FAQ
I heard you recently changed your mission. When was this and what prompted it? We did!! Spring of 2022 we launched our new mission.

Free to Be builds confidence in Sonoma County youth, empowering them to make healthy choices in today’s ever-changing culture.

The social issues impacting our youth today are different than they were when we were founded.

Do you still focus on Sexual Risk Avoidance?

Free to Be advocates making informed choices about sexual activity, substance use and emotional health. Because teen culture and social media often promotes unhealthy choices when it comes to sexual activity and substance use, we teach critical thinking and the repercussions of making uninformed decisions. We believe that youth who value themselves and feel connected to their community are more equipped to make healthy, long-term decisions.

Are you affiliated with a religious organization?

No, we are completely independent.

What is your position on gender identity?
Free to Be cares about the health and well-being of all youth. With the enormous complexities and impact of social media, our goal is to promote a strong sense of self-worth in youth, building confidence and supporting their emotional health.
